Q. What is Adjudication? A. Adjudication in the construction industry is a process
that provides for the referral of a dispute arising out of the contract
at any time to a person usually agreed by the parties who will determine
the dispute. |

Q. What are the time scales associated with Adjudication? A. The Adjudicator must usually reach a decision within
21 days unless a longer period has been agreed. |

Q. Who is the Adjudicator? A. The Adjudicator is an individual who will have experience
of construction law matters although may not necessarily be a lawyer.
An Adjudicator is normally nominated by both parties failing which
the government body of Adjudicators will nominate an Adjudicator.
The Adjudicator must reach a decision within 28 days and he must
act impartially throughout. |
